Each of us, even if we haven’t written it down or thought about it that much, have an idea in our heads of our perfect customer or client. Someone we’d really like to work for.
There are obviously some basics that we’d all agree on – we want to someone who’s easy to get on with (no drama queens please), and people who pay up on time are always welcome.
Beyond that, the qualities of an ideal client can change from business to business. It’s worth putting some time into thinking about what your ideal client looks like. Because once know what they’re like, you’re in a better position to do some marketing and try to get more of them. At the very least, you’ll spot those who don’t match up, and be forewarned.
Just in case you’re wondering, here are some of the things we look for in an ideal client at AK Tax & Accountancy:
- They ask for advice
- They listen to the advice
- They take our advice seriously (because, after all, we do put effort into it)
- They recommend people to us ( – always a good sign that they’re happy. And once we find someone we like working with, we want to find more people just like them.)
